Can you deliver authentic marketing without understanding your authentic self?

Laura Chamberlain released this article recently and it struck a chord, and made me think:

- How have my life experiences led me to deliver the type of marketing I do today?

Whether it's being a parent, being involved in a community group, or championing a subject you are passionate about all these experiences outside of work can have a huge influence on how you work as a marketer, and how you understand people and talk to them.

I certainly identify with the points Laura makes about how skills like empathy, problem-solving and negotiation in my life link with my application of those skills at work.

➡️ Laura’s statement is powerful: “Embracing who we are as individuals will lead to us to being more authentic marketers”. These different aspects of our lives combined can lead us to create more impactful marketing.

💙 It is not always straightforward to be 100% your authentic self at work for many reasons, but if that sweet spot exists then the marketing magic happens.

📈 I have had many campaigns over the years where true success comes from the team driving the campaign being well-matched with the audience being targeted.

🙋🏻‍♀️ My question to you: What experiences have you had which influenced the way you work as a marketer?
